Heroes usually have guides and Odysseus was a hero and he had some guides. For example, he had Athena. She helped him leave Calypso’s island. Hermes was also a guide because on Circe’s island he gave Odysseus a plant, which kept him from turning into a swine from Circe’s powers. Circe was also a guide to Odysseus. She told him to go to the world of Hades to go and see the prophet Tiresias. Tiresias was a guide as well. He told Odysseus how, and what he should do to take care of his men. Also he told him that Poseidon was angry with Odysseus. Aeolus the king of the winds was a guide to Odysseus. He gave Odysseus a bag of air, which would take him to Ithaca. All of these guides did or tried to help Odysseus.
Heroes are supplied with friends, servants, and disciplines. Odysseus was supplied with a number of friends. He had stubborn friends, and generous friends. His crew is a good example of his friends.
