1) Intelligence is the mental ability to learn, think understand and know things in any situation.
2) Intelligence Test Construction started from a French psychologist name Alfred Binet. It develops the test for children with special needs. It’s measured their mental abilities like memory attention and understanding similar and differences. He believes that mental age was different from chronological age. A Stanford University Psychologist Lewis Terman adapted this and he named it Stanford-Binet intelligence. He adopted the suggestion of IQ. This was to divide the mental age by the chronological age and X the result by 100.
3) Psychologist in World War I to see the mental ability of soldiers so they can be awarded the right jobs used intelligent testing in the 1900. It was abused because the soldiers who didn’t speak or understand English still had had to have verbal task are write in English which the conditions were crowded stressful loud rooms.
4) Wechsler intelligence test was a test designed for adults to measure different abilities. The differences in this test have 11 subtests and it provides as overall verbal and performance score. Verbal scales are subtest that includes voc., comprehension knowledge of general information and other verbal tasks. Performance scale is 6 subtest that are nonverbal tasks like incomplete, missing and arranging pictures to tell a story or blocks to match a pattern.
5) Intelligence Quotients are calculated by comparing an individual score to the scores of others in the same age group which 100 is the average.
6) Test is a series of questions or tasks to determine a person’s knowledge or ability in a certain area. The advantages of tests are that they are standardized or given to a large group for who the test is for without affecting factors. Norms are standards set for a group that each individual is compared to. It’s useful because it’s an easier way to see if someone is above or below average.
7) Reliability is when test produce consistent results on different occasion. Validity is when test results are what their said to be. They relate to test because a test can be reliable if factors change and can be invalid because everyone has a different opinion on what norms are for different test.
8) Being a twin your IQ scores will always be the same as the other twin no matter if separated. But coming form a foster home can alter your results faster. Having the same home your IQ is higher but if you were not a twin and is adopted having a good intellectual environment gives you a higher IQ as well as your parents being rich and around a good social environment. But if you’re not from a high class family being in the environment of one can give you a high IQ also.
9) Yes, I do believe IQ test are culturally biased the reason being is because we have to consider what’s the standardized intelligence for this test. If it’s created for a white middle class group. Some minorities might not be familiar with that. A person anxiety of them expecting to fail or that they’re going to be put into a certain category can effect how well they do just as well the uses of different words may be a factor that leads to failure also.
10) Theirs a relationship with giftedness and success in our society. Gifted people are in better health and are happier and there family income is well above average. Which say that the higher you IQ the well off in life you will be.
11) Mental retardation is people who IQ is less than 70 and can’t do what is expected of them to do at their age. Familial retardation is mild retardation that’s not due to the environment or genetics but because of poor families and because theirs someone in the family who is.
