The hero is usually a person of high social status and who usually has great historical or legendary importance. In the past, hero was someone who is "looking for something" and physically goes to get something and this involves a physical and spiritual act and therefore a change. But Heroes are very different today than they were in the past. Today’s hero’s shifted from courageous warriors who risked their life in battle, to ordinary people achieving a goal or helping someone out.

A hero is a person that fits his society’s view of someone to be praised. We can’t help the fact that there will always be that society created human being that is forced into being far superior then others. The perfect hero today is clearly defined by the media and how they are portrayed in mass environments. The hero today reveals the possibilities of the press, and media, and is known for well-known ness. The perfect hero of yesterday was not one who was looked upon as kind and caring, but rather one who was fierce, confident and yearned for conflict with others. The hero would boast about their many strengths and how they were better then others, and those who defined them as such would praise them for their actions. In the other hand, the hero yesterday is known for achievements, and reveals the possibilities of human nature.
The other difference between heroes of today and yesterday is about their character in the society. In the past, a hero was a warrior or king who performed outrageous and sometimes superhuman deeds. They are people who made history. Characteristic of a yesterday hero was to boast about his feats. A hero by modern day standards is a person who is looked upon as a role model. A hero can be a sports star to a working father. They are people who make news. Characteristic of a modern day hero should be a very modest person and should feel that they never have any reason to boast about anything.
One of the other differences that we can talk about today and yesterday heroes is about that how they become heroes. A hero from the past was to be a descendent from Royalty. today’s hero’s a person that can be a hero without being a descendent.

As different as heroes of today and yesteryear are, they are the very same in the sense that they are only heroes because people made them to be. The characteristics of past heroes were very different from those of a modern day hero. And it’s mostly because the Public eye today likes the hero to be humble and have good sportsmanship. Today's world may have heroes, but they are now overshadowed by celebrities. Time makes heroes of yesterday but dissolves celebrities of today.
