Animal research has played a vital role in virtually every major medical advance of the last century for both human and animal health. A study by the U.S department of health and human services concluded that animal research has helped increase our life expectancy by twenty point eight years. But is it necessary to test on animals to win the Noble Prize for Physiology and Medicine?
There have been many sanctuaries made for animals that are decreasing in population, however how have the animals that are in large numbers been helped? For example: after a decade long ban of the practice, Alaska Governor Frank Murkowski permitted citizens to shoot aerial wolves from the air in such planes. Why is it that every time there is a surplus in the area, we make sure to gain control of its population rate? Public high schools are required to dissect animals during their anatomy and physiology classes. The fact that scientists have to induce disease in others animals indicates that animal models are not appriotiate. I understand that if they didnt use animal as experimentations that there wouldnt be some of the discoveries that we have today, but when are they going to find other resources to take the place of rabbits and mice? Vivisection is the research on live animals, to me is morally unacceptable because of certain beliefs that I carry regarding my religion.
Since 1981, psychologists for the Ethical Treatment of Animals have worked with social scientists, mental health providers, and other animal protection organizations to reduce the suffering and exploitation of human and non human animals. There are many theories that are possible for the alternative of testing on animals such as: autopsies, computer databases, genetics, or technology. In my opinion, what is necessary for any life, whether animal or human, is not always good, for one to advance the other will fall behind. So what is good for our race is not always a reasonable effect on others, we need to find a way that we can study and experiment to find the cures to diseases and other information that questions us without testing on our animal and plant life.
There are many associations that are trying to find other testing material, and there are also associations that are trying to keep animals as testing material, I am not asking you to agree to my point of view, I am just asking to listen to what I have to say. It doesnt mean you have to go protest after you finish reading; I am just trying to give you information on the topic. You decide what your opinion is.
