One of the biggest epidemics the world has ever known is happening everywhere. As a result, children in the thousands are dying daily and it is the issue over child poverty that seems endless. Over the past year over 10.5 million children under the age of five past away, and the vast majority of children were in developing countries. The countries that are in desperate need of help consist of Ethiopia, Angola, (Africa) Afghanistan, Nepal, (Asia) Samoa, (Australia) and Haiti (Caribbean) as well as many others. Child poverty also consist of developed countries as well, with the Untied States having the highest rate, showing 21.9 percent after taxes with new Zealand trailing behind with 16.3 percent and Ireland with 15.7 percent. These suffering children are in desperate need of help and need healthy food, fresh water, adequate living, and a good education. For those who aren’t really competent about child poverty, they may wonder about the reasons it came about. Questions could arise about what has happened because of poverty and how it is being helped. But the real question is can it be ended?
Child poverty is steadily rising for a lot of reasons. The overall reason for child poverty is because parents aren’t able to take proper care for their off spring. Parents sometimes lose jobs and cannot adequately take care of their kids and the children are left to fend for themselves. Some say that appropriate education leads to poverty because it leads to the inability to acquire good jobs in the future. There is also an argument that the world is overpopulated and we do not have the resources to support the worlds’ needy children.
Because children have to fend for them selves, some will go to any extent to get even the slightest amount of food. As a result of children going to any extent necessary to get food many of them are exploited into doing unethical things. Some children turn to prostitution to make a way for them selves in the world, and that is not the answer. Children may decide to turn to theft and in the end violence to make it through life. Because of poverty children have a higher chance of going through chronic depression in their lives. Disease is also likely to spread in the environment because the children may not be fully educated about keeping them selves safe in certain environments and in certain situations. In the end the child may die from starvation because of malnutrition in which could have possibly been prevented.
Now people are trying from all over the world to help child poverty. There are foundations designed to help children with their needs. The Red Cross goes about helping children with proper education and food as well as other things to keep hope alive for the young and unfortunate. In developed countries welfare is supplied to families to keep all needed things available for children and families all over. Anti poverty programs are also great aides to help children and families all over the world.
With child poverty being one of the biggest issues in the world it is growing in enormous proportions. Children are dying every day and this seems endless. What ever the cause may be for child poverty, be it parents, education, jobs, or overpopulation this is an issue that needs to be addressed more aggressively. Children all over the world are being put down made to feel like their nothing in the attempt to make them take lower more degrading routes to support them selves and this must be stopped. Even with all the great help the world is doing to stop this dilemma a lot more work is needed to effectively eliminate this problem. In time there may be hope to end this struggle but for now all we can do is pray for the best and hope that it is
